Monica Stroik was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Reston, VA. She received her MFA in 2013 from the Mt. Royal School of Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). In 2010 she completed a six-year studio residency at the Arlington Arts Center in VA. Stroik has participated in a summer painting residency at School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York. Stroik has exhibited across the DC metropolitan area including the Arlington Arts Center, Hillyer Art Space, Civilian Art Project, Area 405, and the Glenview Mansion. Besides painting, Stroik also mixes video for live musical performances and collaborates with her husband, Doug Kallmeyer, a musician and a composer, creating music videos.
